Øresund Space Collective – Relaxing in the Himalayas (2021)

“In 2014, we assembled an amazing line up of clever and inspired musicians to have a few days of jams in the studio. Hasse (Tangle Edge) came down from Norway, Jonathan, KG, Mathias and Alex came down from Stockholm. Jonathan (Camper Van Beethoven, Sista Maj) had been a big fan of ØSC but not played with us before. KG (ex-Siena Root, Palace on Wheels) had joined us before in the studio previously and also live. Mathias (My Brother the Wind) had also played live with ØSC before (on bass) and was a good friend of the band. I had been a big fan and friend with the guys in Gösta Berlings Saga for a few years and thought their drummer Alex would be a great fit. Finally, Jonas (Agusa) and Mats came over from Malmö. Both had played live with the band in the past. The 45min piece you are listening to now, was the first piece of music that we recorded together. Wow.. I hope that you enjoy this.”

Papir – Jams (2021)

“Jamming has always been an essential part of Papir. Jamming in the rehearsal room, jamming in the studio, collectively jamming live and getting in to a common zone of rocking outbursts, ambient soundscapes, repetitive trances or whatever comes through. Sometimes it can just feel like a hard work of even trying to get into the zone. But mostly it’s just good times and fun, and I guess that’s why we do it. It’s all about musical energy!”

Mythic Sunship – Ouroboros (2016)

“With a band name mingled from album titles by John Coltrane and Sun Ra one might expect Mythic Sunship to be jazz band. However, this is not quite the case, although the Copenhagen quartet shares a similar sense of exploration and general untamedness with that of the two masters of cosmic jazz. The destination is transcendence alright, but the vehicle, ultimately, is assembled from decades of ROCK… where ferocious drum-pounding and thick, Geezery basslines adds fuel to an endless pyre of blazed-out dual fuzz guitar action. This stuff is wild.”

Secret Oyster – Sea Son (1974)

“SECRET OYSTER became somewhat of a super group when members of BURNIN’RED IVANHOE, CORONARIAS DANS and HURDY GURDY formed this unit. By the end of BURNIN’ RED IVANHOE’s career (that spawned seven years), Karsten Vogel started forming a new band… Their sound recalled MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, NUCLEUS, Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi and Sextant albums as well as Miles DAVIS’s Bitches Brew.”

Mantric Muse – Mantric Muse (2012)

“If you are into music based on a totally free and non-restrictive approach you could choose to spend a few hours with the new untitled CD from the Danish band Mantric Muse. All the songs on the CD are made from a large catalogue of jams, which have been mapped, dissected and then re-created into parts. The different parts have afterwards been rearranged towards whole songs. Hereby, the base and the structures of the songs avoid most formal rules and fixed concepts (except the overall concept of organizing jams). The band tries to maintain the special freshness – the here and now – of the jams in the songs, so listeners can sense the present vibe of the original jams in the songs. Normally Mantric Muse describes their music as music for neural travelling, and potentially the songs, which are all instrumental and also quite long, crafts a short break from the everyday life. Recommended för fans of ÖRESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE, OZRIC TENTACLES, VESPERO.”

Troldmand – 21.10.11 (2012)

“Picking up where 1970s psychedelic warlords Hawkwind left off and taking their cues from both the speed gurus of the noisy Tokyo underground and the endless groovy jams of the German krautrock scene, Troldmand navigate the field of doomy riffs, frantic guitar solos and psychedelic sounds. This five-piece orchestra is on a never-ending journey to challenge your perception of the cosmic infinite… Recorded live at Loppen, Christiania in Copenhagen, Denmark on 21 October 2011.”

Papir – Stundum (2011)

“Papir is a krautrock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. Band correctly eschews the traditional pigeonholes of krautrock, prog rock, space rock and stoner rock, while admitting to retaining elements of all these nebulous and intersecting genres. Influences cited by the band include Can and electric Miles Davis (Stundum is semi-improvised, with a few extra layers of guitar and percussion overdubbed onto the frenzied three-piece jams), as well as German guitar legends Manuel Gottsching (specifically the two extended freakouts on the first Ash Ra Tempel album) and Michael Rother (as heard on the crushing and thoroughly atypical early Kraftwerk bootleg K2).”

Øresund Space Collective – The Black Tomato ‎(2007)

“The Øresund Space Collective (OSC) had their first jamsession in April 2004, encouraged by longtime spacerock-fanatic Scott Heller; aka Dr. Space. The collective is a group of Danish, Swedish and American musicians that get together as often as possible for free form improvised cosmic music. The flavour of the music is different with each session. The stretched out jams can often combine complex interplay between guitar and synthesizer as well intense drumming and bass playing. Sometimes chaotic, sometimes melodic but most of the time funky and cosmic! We enter into the genre of funk, jazz, reggae, kraut, stoner, folk, world, electronica and space rock ( and probably some others) as we improvise our way along. The jam sessions alternate between Malmö and København across the Øresund bridge, which connects Denmark & Sweden.”
