Causa Sui – Loppen 2021 (2023)

“Each Causa Sui show is unique. Here we’re offered a different perspective of the band’s music – it’s looser, more free-flowing, and some tracks are warped into something far from their original versions, bouncing off the wooden beams on the low ceiling of Loppen with renewed energy. At one point you can hear the band calling to take a breather and let some air inside the sauna-like temperature of the show, which just weeks before seemed impossible. Loppen 2021 offers a complete set from start to finish, so since chances that you’ll catch the band live in person are slim, this is the next best thing.”

Acid Rooster – Flowers & Dead Souls (2023)

“”Flowers and Dead Souls” is the second full-length studio album by Leipzig-based trio Acid Rooster, featuring six instrumental tracks that explore the depths of freethinking psychedelic music. From very quiet, spherical melodies to space jams and driving songs, the album contains a variety of different emotions and styles that are reminiscent of the spirit of German kraut and psych rock pioneers.”

London Odense Ensemble – Live at Jaiyede Jazz Festival (2023)

“London Odense Ensemble is a powerhouse quintet that combines forces from the Causa Sui/El Paraiso family tree (Jakob Skøtt, Jonas Munk, Martin Rude) with the vibrant, experimental London jazz scene (Tamar Osborn, Al MacSween). On two studio full-lengths, released in 2022 and 2023, they have explored the confluence of psychedelia, improvisation and cosmic jazz. On this set, recorded at the 2021 edition of Denmark’s Jaiyede Jazz Festival, the energy is cranked up another notch or two. Comprised almost entirely of exclusive material not found on the two studio records these three sonic excursions dive head-on into the fiery side of the group’s sound.”

Agusa – Prima Materia (2023)

“Agusa’s music effortlessly foliates from majestic beauty to violent outbursts and everything in between. It blends tripped-out psychedelic and progressive rock structures to instill visions of nature, the cosmos, and dreamlike passages, meandering into realms of a possibly supernatural or parallel existence. This is instrumental music where the instruments – and the people playing them – communicate directly with our hearts and minds.”

Yawning Balch – Volume One (2023)

“Bob Balch here. In November of 2022 I went out to Joshua Tree for a day of jamming with the guys in Yawning Man with the intention of calling it “Yawning Balch.” No riffs were planned. We just plugged in and played. The only discussion beforehand was that Gary Arce and I wanted to mess with tons of guitar pedals. I knew that while we were jamming it sounded great, but it wasn’t until I got home and listened to it all that I realized we had something special. It’s hard to believe that we jammed for five hours and got two full length LPs and then some out of it. Every player killed it on these recordings and I’m beyond grateful to have my name involved with this legendary band. Fingers crossed they invite me back out annually for more jam sessions. I hope you enjoy these jams and please use responsibly.”

Snakes Don’t Belong in Alaska – Sounds of a Forming Planet (2023)

“The great Carl Sagan once said “It might be a familiar progression, transpiring on many worlds—a planet, newly formed, placidly revolves around its star; life slowly forms; a kaleidoscopic procession of creatures evolves, intelligence emerges”. SDBIA imagined what it would sound like, listening to this universal progression and this is how “Sounds Of A Forming Planet” came to be. Recorded live, these improvised performances explore the thoughts of how we came to be, through the use of Heavy psychedelia, Stoner, doom and prog rock. Consisting of 3 killer slabs of mind altering psychedelic sludge, this record sees SBDIA return to their best.”

Yawning Man – Long Walk of the Navajo (2023)

“Long walk of the Navajo features Gary Arce (Guitar), Bill Stinson (Drums), and the return of Billy Cordell (Bass). The Long Walk Sessions were inspired by a desert storm that hit the Joshua tree landscape that created a dark and gloomy backdrop for the bands creativity and improvisations. Blood Sand was recorded at Gary’s house by Steve Kille of Dead Meadow in Oct of 2022. It was a complete improvisation.”

Øresund Space Collective – Everyone is Evil (2023)

““Everyone Is Evil” is the Band’s 40th release. This session took place in Sept. 2022 and collected up a number of top musicians to create several albums of progressive, psychedelic, world music and space rock! The track “Everyone is Evil” is an epic 64min track that takes the listener on an intense journey through different universes and a bit of CAN, Magma and other bands but in their own unique way. “Everyone is Good” brings you down to a more calm state in this repetitive, meditative exploration into space music.”

Modoki – Atom Sphere (2023)

“Power Trio featuring Mitsuru Tabata Japanese underground rock guitarist, vocalist and composer. (Zena Geva, Leningrad Blues Machine, Boredoms, 20 Guilders, Acid Mothers Temple) Mike Vest & Dave Sneddon.
Free form one take instrumental rock with improvised sonic lead guitars textured and balanced with phaser bass lines and a mid-paced back beat. Total unapologetically lo-fi, scuzz fuzz rock, with hints of MC5, Stooges, and Funkadelic.”
