“Love psychedelic guitar textures and vintage styled prog-rock organ freakouts? Of course you do. Well, do yourself a favor and be sure to check out this debut release from Sweden’s Agusa, titled Högtid, out soon from the folks at Transubstans Records. This is authentic sounding early ’70s prog/psych/krautock inspired stuff…so much so that you’d swear it was recorded in 1971. The band lists their influences as Kebnekajse, Amon Düül II, and Colosseum , which you can totally hear, but they have also added their own spin on the vintage sounding modern prog sound. Featuring members of Sveriges Kommuner & Landsting, Kama Loka and Hoofoot, Agusa weave plenty of swirling organ, jagged guitar, and nimble rhythms throughout this stirring collection of songs. It’s all instrumental, so don’t be put off by the Swedish song titles, and it’s all glorious stuff.”
“It’s a quality release, crafted by people that obviously know the right buttons to press to make people float down the stream of their own consciousness, abandoning their ego while flying through the electric field of matter and time and onwards towards the Great Truth. It’s a groove-fest made by stoners for stoners, and has a kickass cover you could lose yourself in. Now can you dig that my psychedelic brothers and sisters.”
“These elevating sonic adventures could be compared to the sonic idioms of groups MY BROTHER THE WIND and maybe more rustic incarnations of GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA and THE SPACIOUS MIND, but the diversity and imagination utilized on the explorations within the frame of neo-classic psych music straits allow them their own identifiable sound, setting the group out of the conventional clone bands. This Swedish underground acid rock also certainly expand the impressionistic boundaries of musical expression from conventional sound structures to the heights of hallucinogenic progressive territories and reaching escape velocity for the planes of Space Rock and beyond.”
“The thing with Fire! is that, yes, they’re masters of squealing, Brцtzmann-esque blow-outs, but, above all, they’re fun. Their music is frenetic, but filled with boundless enthusiasm, the trio feeding off one another with obvious, exuberant, glee… Werliin releasing his pent-up energy in a torrent of cymbals and Gustafsson’s notes turning into anguished squeals, the Australian barges his way into the limelight with a molten cascade of feedback, Sonic Youth-style, grappling with his bandmates for space before locking into a krautrock groove with Berthling and Werliin, driving over the horizon of Fire!’s free jazz roots with metronomic precision and the kind of noisy funkiness that defined the best early-seventies German bands such as Neu! and Can.”
Improvised jam by swedish stoner rock legends Asteroid.
“DRAHK VON TRIP is a six piece band from Malmö, Sweden, performing progressive psychedelic acid rock. This is strongly influenced by 70’s prog and spacerock with female vocals, featuring ethnic sounds, blended with expressive lyrics. The music and lyrics create various moods and a suggestive feeling, often built up through a soft and floating shape into an intensely wild and chaotic state. The process of creating the music together starts with free form jams.”
I can’t believe this Sweden band is from 70s. They started as proggy proto-punk and later switched to space acid jamming reminiscent of Earthless. Overall sound beyond any words and so much ahead of that time. Amazing psychedelic improvisational journey to outer space.
“Before to become TRÄD, GRÄS OCH STENAR, this late 60’s Swedish musical collective were first known under the name PÄRSON SOUND and then as INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER. They only published one album with the original formation. This band can easily define the Sweden’s krautrock sound. Not so far from ÄLGARNAS TRÄDGÅRD and CHARLIE & ESDSOR… A brilliant psych album with buzzing drone-ragas and cavernous free rock improvisations.”
Rare live album by Swedish supergroup with Georg Wadenius on guitar who later joined Blood, Sweat & Tears. Known primarly as “best Swedish band of 70s” and Grammy Award-winning hitmakers this album however mostly instrumental and built on improvisation.
“Formed in 1991, The SPACIOUS MIND have since become known as one of the world’s leading psychedelic bands. Their music owes as much to the acid haze of the San Francisco ballrooms in the late 60’s, as it does to the unknown areas of space, heart and time. The twin guitars are battling over a steady drums/bass background, while the atmospheric keyboards are swirling in and out of your mind, and together they create a melancholic tapestry of sounds that should please anyone into consciousness raising or simply the message of LOVE.”
