Earthless – Night Parade of One Hundred Demons (2022)

“There’s an ancient Japanese legend in which a horde of demons, ghosts and other terrifying ghouls descend upon the sleeping villages once a year. Known as Hyakki Yagyō, or the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons, one version of the tale states that anyone who witnesses this otherworldly procession will die instantly—or be carried off by the creatures of the night. As a result, the villagers hide in their homes, lest they become victims of these supernatural invaders. Such is the inspiration for the latest album from EARTHLESS… Whereas 2018’s Black Heaven featured shorter songs and vocals from guitarist Isaiah Mitchell on much of the album—an unprecedented move for the San Diego power trio—their latest is a return to the epic instrumentals EARTHLESS made their unmistakable name on. Night Parade Of One Hundred Demons is comprised of two monster songs—the 41-minute, two-part title track and the 20-minute “Death To The Red Sun.”… All told, Night Parade of One Hundred Demons isn’t just a return to the band’s traditional format—it’s a return to their very beginnings.”

Earthless meets Heavy Blanket – In A Dutch Haze (2014)

“Backed by the best rhythm section in today’s adventurous rock world — Mario Rubalcaba and Mike Eginton from Earthless — the quartet stormed the stage for what would become an incredible one-time happening, leading to almost a full hour of some of the most mind-bending heavy psych imaginable. The epic jam session gave birth to shredding psychedelia and hard rock blues underpinned by the muscular rhythmic sensibilities of kraut-rock and the unbridled energy of 70′s guitar rock. The formidable foundation laid by drummer Rubalcaba became a jumping off point for Mascis, Clise and Eighton to explore their inner cosmoi for consciousness-expanding riffs and music-induced psychedelic experiences.”

Earthless – Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky (2007)

“The psychedelic sound of EARTHLESS from California, San Diego, has two faces: a free improvisational trio in style of early ASH RA TEMPEL and live jammings of CREAM, and a heavy stoner riffings is style of BLACK SABBATH and BUDGIE. This sound is borne from efforts of guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bass player Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba. In their free improvisations the rhythm section keeps the time and marks changes of modal themes for the fuzzy guitar doing both cosmic explorations and heavy stoner riff construction works. If you like vintage psychedelia or heavy stoner rock, preferrably both, this group blends these elements in a professional manner.”
