Residual Echoes – California (2006)

“The Residual Echoes were formed by Adam Payne after he moved to Santa Cruz and met the encouraging forces of Ethan Miller (Comets on Fire) and Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance). They have blossomed into one of that city’s finest groups. E.X.P. – Tricocereus Peruvianis Sessions (2006)

“E.X.P. formed in 1997. The band received considerable critical acclaim on the heavy psych scene throughout Europe, USA and Latin America. The sound of the band is characterised by raw compositions, the typically r’n’r explosive potential of which is taken to an extreme before being blasted apart by heavy doses of electricity (fuzzzzz!) and analogical electronics (synthesisers, theremin, etc.). Using crude, self taught methods of instrumentation, they bang away for long periods of time employing ridiculously heavy riffs paired with harrowing widdly wah your face off guitar wankery, brain bending electric noodling, and ogre-esque drum bashing.”

Alasehir – Sharing The Sacred (2006)

“Alasehir is one of the many side-projects of the Bardo Pond family. This side-project consists of John Gibbons, Michael Gibbons, Clint Takeda and Michael Zangha (the first 3 members are part of Bardo Pond). Like all of Bardo Pond’s side-project this is also band centered in improvisations and mind-expanding melodies. Their music can be seen as Space Rock or even Stoner Rock, but with slight Krautrock and Progressive Electronic influences as well. Alasehir is more rock oriented compared to most of their side-projects… Very groovy and out-there, Alasehir are highly recommended for fans of the Bardo Pond family as well as fans of heavy psychedelic improvisations.”
